FREEDOM, Ind. (AP) _ Investigators say they've not been able to determine the cause of a house fire in rural western Indiana that killed an 11-year-old boy, his mother and stepfather three weeks ago.
The predawn Aug. 5 fire near the Owen County town of Freedom injured 43-year-old Dan Reynolds, 41-year-old Joy Reynolds and her son Bailey Little. They later died from the injuries.
The state fire marshal's office tells The (Bloomington) Herald-Times that its investigation is ongoing.
Insurance investigator Steve Shand says the fire burned at more than 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, destroying most potential evidence. Shand says he will return to the site next week with other experts in a new attempt to find the fire's cause.
