Change of venue hearing pushed back in Malakai Garrett case

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The change of venue hearing for a mother accused of contributing to her two-year-old son’s death has been moved.

Thursday a judge moved the change of venue hearing for Amber Garrett to May 22 according to our Partners in News at ABC 21. That hearing was originally scheduled for May 18.

Garrett is charged with two counts of felony neglect for leaving Malakai Garrett with her boyfriend, Mitchell Vanryn. Vanryn is charged with murder after he allegedly beat the child last November and brought him to a fire station.

Garrett is out of jail on bond.
