City to Build Sculpture in Fort Wayne Intersection

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There's a new sculpture coming to a major Fort Wayne intersection.

The Board of Public Works approved accepting bids for three phases of construction on Superior Circle, which is the roundabout where Fairfield meets with Ewing, Superior, and Wells Streets.

The Journal-Gazette reports the piece was designed by local artist and former architect George Morrison and will feature 42 metal poles colored green, red, white, and blue. It'll be designed so drivers have a different view of the sculpture at different points on the roundabout.

It's expected to cost $80,000 to $100,000 and will be paid for through Gateway Funds established last years year using some Legacy Funds. It's expected to be complete in October.

The project is being completed in three phases, including the actual sculpture and other work to develop the circle.
