FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A local pastor wants to do more to reduce violence in Fort Wayne.

Thursday, Rev. Carlton Lynch of New Beginnings Church has planned a Code Red Walk and Awareness Service. He says it's a call to attention that addresses the rise of gun violence in Fort Wayne.

It begins at 6:30 p.m. at East Central Tower Apartments and runs about six blocks along Washington Boulevard to Tree of Life Church.

Lynch hopes the walk sparks community involvement with churches, community groups and individuals committing to do their part. 

He's asking participants to wear red to symbolize the urgency of situation.
