D.O. McComb & Sons Partners with Cellphones for Soldiers for Veterans Day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): D.O. McComb and Sons has partnered with Cellphones for Soldiers in honor of this Veterans Day. Cell Phones for Soldiers is dedicated to serving troops and veterans with free communication services and emergency funding.

Therefore, they're asking Fort Wayne residents to donate gently-used cellphones.

Residents can donate phones at all McComb locations. “We are honored to be partnered with Cell Phones for Soldiers and the wonderful assistance they provide our countries veteran’s and active military”, states co-owner Dave McComb.

Approximately half of the phones are reconditioned and reused. Phones and components that cannot be refurbished are dismantled and responsibly recycled to reclaim materials, including:

  • – Gold, silver and platinum from circuit boards

  • – Copper wiring from phone chargers

  • – Nickel, iron, cadmium and lead from battery packs

  • – Plastic from phone cases and accessories

Each year we have been humbled by the amount of people and organizations like D.O. McComb & Sons that take the initiative to support our military members,” said co-founder Robbie Bergquist. “It’s important to recognize the service and sacrifices of our active-duty military members and veterans. We hope our programs are able to provide a little comfort to those who have given so much for us all.”
