AUBURN, Ind. (WOWO): Auburn Police leaders aren't saying what those recommendations are, but discipline has been recommended against two officers following missing evidence.
Chief Martin McCoy says those recommendations will now be reviewed by the city's Board of Public Works and Safety in its regularly scheduled, public meeting August 27.
At press conference last week McCoy said discipline could include termination. He added he has never disagreed with a internal discipline board recommendation.
In question is how $2,000 went missing. McCoy says weapons including knives and a shotgun also came up missing, but were likely destroyed, but were not documented.
In January the money “vanished” from the evidence room, that set off a series of investigations spanning more than seven months.
The independent probes involved detectives with the Allen County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana State Police and included more than three dozen people, including officers, civilians and contractors
