MARION, Ind. (WOWO): A student aide at Eastbrook Community Schools died when she fell to her death during a basketball game Saturday.

56 year old Julie Smith was in the process of climbing the bleachers to get to a higher level in the gym during an elementary basketball game. According to our partners in news at 21Alive, she lost her balance and fell about 10 feet to the floor below, hitting her head.

Smith was taken to Marion General Hospital with severe head injuries. She was later pronounced dead.

All weekend activities at Eastbrook High School were cancelled, including a theater performance and a girls basketball game at Southern Wells.
