Ethics Professor: Wait for Facts on Deflate Gate

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): An instructor of sports ethics at I-U-P-U-I says people should wait for the facts regarding the deflated footballs in the A-F-C Championship game between the Colts and Patriots.

Bob Lovell, who also hosts Indiana Sports Talk, says it‘s understandable that people will rush to judgment due to the lack of credibility with the Patriots and the N-F-L office. He says there is a lot of speculation and not a lot of answers so fans should let the process play out before offering judgement.

Lovell says he‘s not sure what the Patriots can do to restore their reputation, especially after the Spygate scandal in 2007. He says these are “integrity of the game” issues which go to the heart of fair play and therefore, the team‘s credibility issue will be difficult to repair.

He adds the team‘s quest to repair their credibility will last a long time. Both Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady have denied any knowledge of the deflated footballs. Lovell says until proven otherwise, he‘ll take them at their word.
