FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — A European manufacturer specializing in magnet wire production is expanding into northeast Indiana, bringing new investment and jobs to Fort Wayne.

Tretau, which will operate in the United States as Tau Wire Corp, plans to invest $18 million in a new Fort Wayne facility, according to Greater Fort Wayne Inc. The project is expected to create more than 70 jobs over the next four years.

The facility will be modeled after Tretau’s plant in Pianezza, Italy, and will utilize the company’s eco-friendly coating technology and smart manufacturing systems for magnet wire production. The Fort Wayne site is expected to be fully operational in 2026.

“Establishing our first manufacturing footprint in the United States represents a pivotal step in our global strategy,” said Francesco Taiariol, CEO and co-founder of Tretau. “Fort Wayne’s strong industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce, and legacy in magnet wire production make it an ideal location for our next phase of growth.”

City leaders welcomed the announcement, citing the economic impact of the project.

“Tretau is going to be a tremendous addition to our manufacturing sector and partner in our community,” said Mayor Sharon Tucker. “Unique economic development opportunities and new jobs are strong indicators of why our city continues to grow in a meaningful way.”

The company is currently recruiting employees for the Fort Wayne operation. Interested applicants can apply through Tretau’s career page.

Tretau partners with leading automotive and industrial manufacturers and serves customers in the electric vehicle, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors. Greater Fort Wayne Inc. says the company’s U.S. expansion comes amid strong global demand and consistent year-over-year growth.
