Former ISU Student Sentenced to 4 Years in Campus Shooting

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ A former Indiana State University student who pleaded guilty to wounding another student in a residence hall shooting has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Vigo County Superior Court Judge Michael Lewis noted 21-year-old Calvin McCauley's apparent lack of remorse Monday as he announced the Indianapolis man's sentence.

The Tribune-Star reports McCauley was a student on the Terre Haute campus in September when he shot 20-year-old Tevin Moore, also of Indianapolis.

He pleaded guilty to battery by means of a deadly weapon in exchange for prosecutors dismissing an aggravated battery charge.

Police said McCauley shot Moore in a residence hall stairwell after playing dice for money. Moore recovered after being shot in the buttocks.

McCauley told the court he plans to appeal his sentence.
