Former State Superintendent Bennett Involved in New Charter School

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Former State Schools Superintendent Tony Bennett is back in Indiana and seeking to launch a charter school.

Bennett is assisting a former aide Anna Shults start ACE Preparatory Academy near Broad Ripple. According to the Indianapolis Star, a state board is scheduled to review the plan later this month.

As superintendent Bennett was charged with altering a charter school’s “A to F” performance grade. That school was connected to a former campaign donor.

Bennett later became Florida's school's superintendent. He resigned the job during the grade-change scandal.
