Fort Wayne Power Outage Impacts Lutheran Hospital

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A power outage this morning that affected Indiana Michigan Power customers in southwest Fort Wayne – including Lutheran Hospital – had an unusual cause.

I&M spokesman Tracy Warner tells WOWO news 60 customers lost power at about 8:30, also causing a traffic light outage at I-69 and US 24 and forcing the hospital to rely on backup generators. Warner says the outage was caused by a bird getting into the equipment.

Power was expected to be restored by 11am.
