FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne program dedicated to helping crime victims has gotten a face lift.

The city’s Victim Assistance office has updated two of their “client rooms” with new furniture and artwork to give victims involved in court proceedings a “safe space.” Director Jessica Crozier tells WOWO news the work comes through donations from the public.

“Back in April, we did a fundraiser called ‘Diamonds and Denim,’ to really promote that all victims matter. Before it we had needs to redo a couple of rooms that are really utilized,” she says. “One was kind of old, we used them where – especially children – don’t have to sit in the courtoom and see the defendant walking in and out, and that can be really traumatic to the victim.”

Crozier says her clients are impressed with the update, especially the special room for kids (seen above).
