French Lick Readies for Large Crowd at Senior PGA Tournament

FRENCH LICK, Ind. (AP): The French Lick community is hoping that next week's Senior PGA Championship golf tournament will help put the small southern Indiana town on the map.

The PGA estimates 40,000 visitors will come to French Lick to watch more than 150 golfers compete in the tournament May 19-24 at the French Lick Resort's Pete Dye Course. Dave Harner, director of golf operations at the French Lick Resort, says that it's by far the biggest event the venue has ever hosted.

He says the Senior PGA Championship will take French Lick from a regional destination to a worldwide destination.

French Lick is a town of 1,800 in rural Orange County.
