FWCS Begins Public Discussion of Bus Cuts

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Budget cuts for Fort Wayne Community Schools has the district looking for solutions.

The district has $2.5 million dollars less for transportation. That means more than four thousand students could be without bus service. Limits imposed by the state cap the amount of taxes that can be collected.

The school system held the first of a series of meetings last night.

More information is expected before the end of the month. The changes would take effect for next school year.

They'll host another meeting tonight at the Anthis Career Center with more coming in January.

Here are those meetings:
Tuesday, Jan. 6, North Side High School, 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 7, Snider High School, 6 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 8, Wayne High School, 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, South Side High School, 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, Northrop High School, 6 p.m.
