FWFD Extinguishes Garage Fire on North Side of Town


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a fire around 8:45 a.m. on the 6500 block of Owl Tree Place on the north side of town.

According to a press release, someone called FWFD about a fire that started in an attached garage. Crews arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage area, that had possibly extended into the attic.

The fire was under control in 26 minutes. Firefighters noticed a large amount of food prep materials in the garage, including oil and propane tanks.

One person was home at the time and was able to make it out safe.

Two firefighters were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
