Gary Man Faces Charges in Fatal Hit-and-Run in East Chicago

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) – Authorities have arrested a 57-year-old Gary man in a fatal hit-and-run crash in East Chicago.

East Chicago Police Chief Mark Becker says the man was arrested Saturday night. He says police obtained a search warrant to test the man's blood alcohol content.

The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/1GD4oMp ) reports 52-year-old Scott Tess of East Chicago was struck in the hit-and-run crash Saturday night. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of blunt force trauma.

Formal charges are expected to be filed against the Gary man on Monday.
