FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A high speed chase that started in Fort Wayne ended after the driver lost control of her car.

On Wednesday, December 23rd, a Marshal tried to stop a car driving northbound on I-69, north of the US 6 exit.  They believed the car was involved in a hit and run accident that caused property damage.  The driver, 22 year old Maria Ann Clark of Fort Wayne didn't stop and would lead officers on a high speed chase.

Clark was weaving in and out of traffic, and officers say it could be due to the loss of her left rear tire which was damaged in the pervious accident.

The chase ended when Clark approached the Ashely exit (exit 340) and lost control of the vehicle.  She went off the east side of the ramp, down the embankment and hit a fence.  Clark was immediately apprehended by the Marshal, where they learned she had a warrant out for her arrest for a probation violation.  Clark was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, a level 6 felony, and is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail with a $2,000 bond.

Police were able to locate Clark because the person involved in the earlier accident followed her and notified police of her location on the interstate.

** Correction: The original release from police noted the incident happening on December 24th, however it's been since corrected to happen on December 23rd.
