I&M Announces Final Line Route for “Powering Up Central: City of Fort Wayne”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) officials have announced the final line route for “Powering Up Central: City of Fort Wayne.” “Powering Up Central” is one phase of the Powering Up Northeast Indiana transmission program announced by I&M in February 2014.

The transmission project is designed to enhance reliability and it aims to serve the city's economic development.

During route selection, I&M received comments and suggestions from the community that were incorporated into selecting the route. This included working with the City of Fort Wayne and other major stakeholders along the project to identify the best route.

According to a press release from I&M, the key component of “Powering Up Central” is rebuilding an existing transmission line from Spy Run substation (Spy Run Avenue near State Boulevard) to the Robison Park substation (located off North Clinton Street near I-469), a distance of about 6.5 miles.
