Indiana AMBER Alert Issued For 6-Month-Old Girl Believed In Extreme Danger

HAMMOND, Ind. — An Indiana AMBER Alert has been issued for a 6-month-old girl who was reportedly taken early Thursday morning in northwest Indiana.

The Hammond Police Department requested the statewide alert after Devaeyah Lucas-Bell was reported missing around 4:20 a.m. Thursday in Hammond, about 25 miles southeast of Chicago.

Investigators say the infant is believed to be in extreme danger.

Devaeyah Lucas-Bell is described as a Black female, about 22 inches tall and weighing approximately 16 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white shirt and brown pants.

Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Deandry Sabbs. He is described as a Black male standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 208 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities said his clothing description is unknown.

Investigators believe Sabbs may be driving a gray four-door Nissan sedan with unknown Illinois license plates.

Police have not yet released details about the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance or the relationship between the suspect and the infant.

Anyone who sees the child, the suspect, or the vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Hammond Police Department at 219-852-6357.

The AMBER Alert remains active statewide.
