Indiana Conservation Officers Investigate Possible Drowning of Orleans Man

ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A man is dead after what Indiana Conservation Officers are calling a possible drowning. Thursday night, officers were called to Rego Millersburg Road, after 21-year-old Daniel Bontrager reportedly jumped from a small boat and tried to swim to shore in a private pond. Officers say about 15 others who were swimming with Bontrager pulled him from the bottom of the pond, in approximately ten feet of water, and started CPR. He was pronounced dead at IU Health Hospital in Paoli shortly before 9:00 P.M. The incident remains under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers.
