Indiana Soldier’s Home Robbed Days After Return

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP): The “Welcome Home'' sign is still in the front yard of a central Indiana soldier's home that someone broke into just days after his return from a deployment to Afghanistan.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Hutson says he returned to his family's home near Columbus Thursday evening with his two young daughters to find it ransacked. The Republic reports items taken included electronics, his 6-year-old daughter's piggy bank and medals Hutson received for his military deployments.

Hutson also is a state trooper assigned to the Versailles post. The thief took some police gear such as handcuffs, badge and pepper spray.

Hutson tells WTHR-TV he's bothered that a thief past the sign in the yard and a “Welcome Home Daddy'' banner by his daughters that's hanging inside the house.
