Indiana State Fair Says Crowd Topped 950,000

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Officials say nearly 955,000 people came through the gates for this year's Indiana State Fair.
The fair ended its 17-day run on Sunday with what officials say is the third-highest attendance level since the fairs schedule was extended by five days in 2009.

Last year's fair drew about 23,000 more people.

Fair officials say some 48,000 people visited the Indiana Beer and Wine Exhibition, where alcohol was served to fairgoers for the first time in nearly 70 years after a state law banning alcohol during the event was repealed.
