Indiana State Police Investigate Shooting in Elkhart that Involved Officers

ELKHART, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting that involved officers last night in Elkhart. Around 8:00 P.M., Elkhart City Police officers tried to stop a pickup truck for a traffic violation. The truck was also reported stolen. The driver refused to stop and led units on a chase that lasted more than 40 minutes and took officers into Michigan before returning to Elkhart. The chase ended with the driver being shot behind a house in the area of 4th and Marion Streets. The person died from the gunfire. State police are on the scene investigating. No officers were injured. More information will be released in the next few days.
