Indianapolis Museum of Art to Charge Admission

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The Indianapolis Museum of Art plans to begin charging admission in April as part of a plan to maintain financial stability.

The museum announced in a news release Friday admission will be $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 to 17. The museum will stop charging $5 for parking in April.

Marion County public and charter students on scheduled school field trips and college students from the county will be admitted free. Admission also will be free to the public every first Thursday of each month from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In March 2013 the museum eliminated 29 jobs as part of a cost-cutting move designed to reduce its reliance on its endowment.
