Indiana’s Unemployment Rate Drops

INDIANA, (WOWO): Indiana’s unemployment rate took another dip in February. The Department of Workforce Development says the state’s seasonally-adjusted jobless rate fell from 6.4% in January to 6.1% last month.

In February 2013, it was 7.9%. The nation‘s unemployment rate is 6.7%. DWD Spokesman Joe Frank says the number of jobless Hoosiers is now less than 200,000 for the first time since summer 2008. Frank says Indiana grew 5,400 private sector jobs in February. He adds that in the past two months, the state’s labor force has increased by 14,000 and there are 30,000 more Hoosiers in the labor force than in March of 2000. Frank says that’s a true drop in unemployment. He cites Indiana‘s business-friendly climate.
