BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) – Indiana University President Michael McRobbie says the university should help students with career planning with more combined degree programs and improved advising.

The Indianapolis Star reports McRobbie used his annual State of the University address Tuesday to suggest IU schools search for more opportunities for combined areas of study. He says combining a liberal arts degree with a business certificate, for example, is popular with both students and employers. 
 
McRobbie says a university task force will gather employment and career information from graduates.

McRobbie also says the university's 200th anniversary in 2020 will include a university-wide strategic plan and a $5-billion fundraising campaign.
