INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – State lawmakers are signing off on a wide range of bills including road funding and preschool voucher legislation while they prepare for negotiations during the last two weeks of their 2014 session.

Senate lawmakers approved scaled-down versions of some of Gov. Mike Pence's top priorities Thursday. They voted in favor of a road-funding bill with half the $400 million the governor was seeking. They also supported studying the issue of preschool vouchers for a year before taking any action on the issue.

Meanwhile, House lawmakers advanced a proposal to cut business taxes.

Most of the high-profile items of the session now are heading toward negotiations where House and Senate members will hash out their differences. The General Assembly is scheduled to finish work March 14.
