SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana man who admitted to stealing $1 million worth of copper wire from a recreational vehicle plant where he worked has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Forty-six-year-old Jeffery Miller of Osceola said in federal court Tuesday he used the money to feed his methamphetamine and gambling addictions. He pleaded guilty to interstate transportation of stolen goods and money laundering.
Authorities said he stole the wire from Heartland RV in Elkhart and sold it to a Michigan scrap metal dealer.
The Elkhart Truth reports Miller asked for leniency, saying he could better repay his debt and parent his two children if he was free.
Miller also was ordered to pay Heartland more than $1 million in restitution.
