PORTER, Ind. (AP) _ The agency that runs the South Shore commuter railroad will hold a meeting Thursday to give the public the results of a feasibility study that recommends continuing to ban bicycles on trains until 2021.
 
Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District spokesman John Parsons tells The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/1S9DBIS ) the meeting will give railroad officials an opportunity to explain the study.
 
The report says the recommendation to hold off on allowing bikes on trains was made mainly because South Shore cars would make it difficult to load bikes in a safe and timely manner.
 
Chicago-based Active Transportation Alliance spokesman Ted Villaire says the group plans to have members at the July 16 public meeting to advocate for bikes on trains.
