Muncie woman enters plea deal in dependent’s death…

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ A Muncie woman faces up to 30 years in prison under a plea agreement in connection with the malnutrition death of her 5-year-old step-granddaughter.

The Star Press reports 46-year-old Angela Lee pleaded guilty Tuesday to aiding, inducing or causing neglect.

Delaware Circuit Judge Thomas Cannon Jr. took the plea agreement under advisement.

Lee’s the fifth family member to plead or be found guilty in connection with the 2010 death of Lauren McConniel. Authorities say the girl weighed 28 pounds when hospitalized with lethal salt levels.

The girl’s stepmother, Brittany McConniel, is serving a 50-year sentence for neglect, and her father, Ryan McConniel, awaits sentencing on the same charge. Lee’s husband, Robert, is serving 40 years, and a second daughter is serving two years on a lesser charge.
