Nearly 140 Indiana National Guard Soldiers, Home for the Holidays

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): 137 Indiana National Guard Soldiers are back home, just in time for the holidays. The 1413th Engineer Company returned Tuesday after a nine month deployment to Afghanistan.

The group was welcomed home by a large crowd of family and friends at the Johnson County Armory in Franklin. Major General Martin Umbarger was also on hand to welcome them home.

The company wasn‘t expected to return until sometime in the early spring.

This marks the last time Umbarger will greet soldiers on their return home before he retires this spring.
