New Plans Unveiled for Downtown Project.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Calling it the ”most significant downtown development in decades,” Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry unveiled a new and expanded Ash Brokerage/Hanning and Bean project.

The mixed use development promoted last fall is a combination of retail, residential, financial and other businesses. Then it was a $71 million dollar plan that combined both private and public money.

Officials say with new investment and new interest they are making it bigger and better. That includes adding a new floor to Ash operations and about 500 spaces to a parking garage.

Those developments will add $27 million dollars to the total cost of the high rise building.

Mayor Henry says even with the need for more public money, he doesn’t anticipate opposition from city council, because the project is a “game changer” for downtown.
