FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A nonprofit organization serving northeast Indiana is collecting diapers and wipes this month to help families struggling with the rising cost of childcare essentials.

Healthier Moms and Babies is accepting donations through June 15 as part of its annual community diaper drive.

Organizers say nearly half of families experience diaper insecurity, with diaper costs averaging about $100 per child each month. The group says access to diapers remains one of the most common unmet needs for parents with young children.

Last year’s drive collected more than 150,000 diapers and wipes that were distributed to families across the region.

Donation sites have been set up throughout northeast Indiana to support the effort.
