Northeast Indiana’s Washington Delegation Reacts to Pope

WASHINGTON D.C. (WOWO): Our local Congressional delegation is speaking out on the Pope's address to Congress Thursday.

Republican Congressman Marlin Stutzman was inspired, saying Pope Francis' care for the needy is a reminder of the hope we can all find in each other and in Jesus Christ. His words were echoed by Republican Senator Dan Coats, who says the Pope's message “transcends the borders of nations and the divide of political parties.”

Senator Joe Donnelly says the Pope remained partisan and divided lawmakers that they need to step up for the poor and powerless. He also supports the Pope's beliefs on climate change…and notes his fellow Hoosier Republicans were not pleased to hear that part of the Pope's message.
