LANSING, Mich. (AP): The Snyder administration says an official overseeing Michigan's prison food contract with Aramark Correctional Services has left the job after five months.
 
Ed Buss is an ex-Florida and Indiana prison chief. He began work September 2nd overseeing Michigan's three-year, $145 million contract with Philadelphia-based Aramark.
 
The company's performance in Michigan has been under scrutiny over misconduct by some of its employees and food contamination issues.
 
The Michigan Department of Technology Management and Budget announced Buss's departure Thursday but isn't saying why he returned to Florida.
 
Department spokesman Caleb Buhs tells the Detroit News that Buss was “at-will employee and served at the pleasure of the … director.''
 
Buss says Buss “made some great strides during his time in Michigan, improving the performance of prison food service delivery.''
