WHITESTOWN, Ind. (AP) _ An online used-car retailer has picked a central Indiana site where it plans to spend $13.5 million on a facility to refurbish and ship vehicles.
New York City-based Vroom Inc. announced Wednesday that it expects a December opening for the center in the community of Whitestown, about 15 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
Vroom was founded in 2013 and allows customers to select vehicles from an online inventory for delivery. The company will move into a vacant car dealership where it says it will be able to store 2,500 cars.
The company says it anticipates having up to 220 workers in Whitestown by 2020.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says it offered Vroom up to $3.4 million in conditional tax credits and training grants.
