FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Parkview Women’s and Children’s hospital will be able to provide services to more mothers and babies thanks to a grant.

The March of Dimes selected Parkview Women’s and Children’s Hospital to receive a $14,525 grant, which will support the Parkview Health Centering Pregnancy project in Allen County, according to Parkview Health.

The project works to educate and promote positive maternal behavior related to preterm babies and low birth weight infants.

The grant will provide uninsured and under-insured women education on nutrition during pregnancy; the risk of tobacco, alcohol and other drug use; stress; and lack of adequate prenatal care.
“What we truly notice is that patients are really taking ownership of their health care,” said Sailaja Blackmon, Parkview Physicians Group OB/OGYN.
