PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) _ A report by a southwestern Indiana office says the driver in the crash of an overloaded van on Interstate 69 that killed two people was under the influence of an unknown substance.
Gibson County Sheriff Office Sgt. Bruce Vanoven declined to speculate what that substance was, although he did say it could be a legally prescribed substance. He says investigators are waiting on toxicology results.
Several others were injured in the Sept. 24 crash. Investigators say the 16-passenger van was carrying 24 employees of a temp agency from Washington, Indiana, to an Evansville factory when a badly worn tire blew out.
The report says other contributing factors to the crash named were unsafe speed and unsafe lane movement.
Prosecutor Robert Krieg says the investigation is ongoing.
