Police discover 1,000 pounds of marijuana in traffic stop

DEFIANCE, Ohio (WOWO): Two men are facing charges in Defiance County after a traffic stop led to a massive drug bust.

Defiance police stopped a U-Haul truck on US 24 near the Ralston Avenue exit this week for a traffic violation, but the Journal Gazette reports a police dog picked up a scent coming from the truck’s trailer, so police opened it. That’s when they found about 1,000 pounds of marijuana.

39-year-old Jesus Torres-Salas and 32-year-old David Carrillo-Rivera were arrested for possession of marijuana.

There’s no word yet on what their plans were for that much pot, or where they were going with it.
