Police Investigating Death of Warsaw Man Near Downtown

Warsaw Police are investigating the death of a Warsaw man after a neighbor called police for a welfare check on an unresponsive male. Around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Warsaw Police responded to a vacant duplex located at 228 N. Fort Wayne Avenue and found the male on the steps. Multi-Township EMS responded and transported the male to KCH where he was pronounced dead. Release of the victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of relatives. An autopsy is scheduled for today at the Northeast Forensic Center in Fort Wayne.

Early this morning, Frankie Lee Poe, of 704 S. Buffalo Street, Warsaw, IN., was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on preliminary charges of residential entry to the vacant duplex. He is being held on no bond and is a person of interest in the death investigation.

The case remains under investigation and autopsy results and any further investigation will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Warsaw Police were assisted by, Multi-Township EMS, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
