“Potato Chip Lady,” Myrtle Young, Dies at Age 90

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): She was a food inspector with an eye for the unusual. For years Myrtle Young watched potato chips roll off the line at the Seyferts Potato Chip Plant. One by one, every now and then she would pick up a unique chip, striking a resemblance to a celebrity or an animal. Dozens of chips later, she became a instant favorite with her potato chip collection.

Most remember Young for her appearance on an 1987 episode of Johnny Carson's “Tonight Show.” Our partners in news at 21 Alive report that her appearance was ranked the “Funniest Moment Ever” in television history by TV Guide.

Young died this weekend from natural causes. She was 90-years-old.
