Power Outage From Storm Closes South Bend School

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ A power outage from thunderstorms that hit Indiana is keeping a South Bend high school closed on what was to be its first day of classes.
<br /> Electricity was knocked out to South Bend's Clay High School on Tuesday, causing officials to call off classes for Wednesday. The district's other schools are open.

Power outages also prompted delayed openings for Zionsville and Roncalli high schools in the Indianapolis area.

South Bend schools spokeswoman Sue Coney says utility officials expect it could take until noon Thursday to restore electricity to the 1,300-student Clay High School.

More than 20,000 homes and businesses were without power around Indiana after the storms.
