Man Found Dead In NW Indiana Campground’s Lake

PORTAGE, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities say a 52-year-old man was found dead in a northwestern Indiana campground's lake after apparently going for a swim.

The Portage Fire Department says crews went to the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park Camp Resort on Tuesday after Charles Gritton's girlfriend reported not hearing from him for several hours. The Times of Munster reports (http://bit.ly/1vgpBD2 ) the couple had rented a campsite the night before and that Gritton had said he was going for a walk and a swim.

Fire officials say a search dog found a spot where the Portage man might have gone into the lake and that divers found Gritton's body about 90 minutes later more than 100 feet from shore.
