FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO)Purdue University Fort Wayne has opened a new student housing complex as the university continues to see strong demand for on-campus housing.

According to WANE-15, PFW held a ribbon-cutting Monday for Trace at Purdue Fort Wayne, a 213,000-square-foot complex at 5104 Meeks Drive, near St. Joe Road.

The complex has 176 apartment-style units with space for up to 601 residents.

Amenities include a gym, convenience store, game room, quiet study areas and lounges. Outdoor features include sand volleyball and basketball courts, a grilling area, fire pits, hammocks and additional green space.

PFW officials say the new housing comes as the university has reached full residential capacity for six consecutive fall semesters.

The Trace is open to PFW students as well as students from other area colleges and universities.

PFW students already living on campus were given priority during the initial room selection process. Eight meals per month are also provided for PFW students living at the complex.

The project was developed by Gilbane and is managed by Inwood.

University officials say the additional housing will help meet demand while supporting continued growth in Fort Wayne and the region.
