Republican challenger for State Superintendent challenges teacher license numbers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Earlier this week, WOWO brought you the news that applications for new teacher licenses in Indiana are up 18% after a few years of dropping numbers, leading to State Superintendent Glenda Ritz celebrating and pointing to some of her policies.

Her Republican challenger next week, Jennifer McCormick, tells WOWO News there’s more to those numbers than you think.

“We need to know if those are in-state, are they out-of-state, are they people actually going into classrooms,” she says. “It’s convenient we find this out a week before the election. It’s great to see those numbers go up but it’s important to be transparent about what those numbers actually mean to those in the field.”

McCormick stopped by the WOWO studios yesterday afternoon to appear on the Pat Miller Program.

Didn’t we also just have an article stating that teachers are quitting in droves?
