Scottsburg Man, 70, Found Dead on Roadway East of Salem

SALEM, Ind. (AP) _ Police are investigating the death of a 70-year-old Scottsburg man who has died on a roadway east of Salem.

A driver spotted a body in the roadway around 3 a.m. Monday and immediately called police. Troopers called for detectives and crime scene investigators when they arrived on the scene.

A preliminary investigation into his death revealed that Mitchell Lovins' minivan slid off the roadway. It appears Lovins left his vehicle and started walking east on the street, where it seems he was struck by another vehicle.

An autopsy shows that Lovins died from mass trauma to his body.

Investigators are looking for the vehicle that struck and killed Lovins.
