Seniors Urged to Apply for Indiana Property Tax Credits by January 15

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (WOWO) Indiana seniors and residents with disabilities have until January 15, 2026, to apply for updated property tax credits, according to state officials.

The new programs replace several former deductions, meaning many homeowners must submit new applications to their local county auditor even if they previously received similar benefits.

The Over 65 Credit now provides $150 in relief and does not impose assessed value limits on homes. The Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit caps annual property tax increases at 2% for individuals with incomes up to $60,000 and couples earning up to $70,000.

County auditors are handling the applications, and state officials are encouraging eligible residents to file before the January 15 deadline to secure their tax relief.
