SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Drivers in northern Indiana are continuing to struggle with slick roads from the first major wintry weather system of the season.
The National Weather Service recorded 12.3 inches of snow in South Bend on Thursday. That's the fourth-deepest November snowfall on record for the city.
Police say numerous crashes have happened Friday morning on roadways throughout the South Bend area, where traffic came to a standstill at times while lake-effect snow fell the day before.
The weather service has a winter weather advisory in effect until Friday afternoon for LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties. It says up to 4 inches of snow could fall from lake-effect snow bands.
