Southern Indiana Man Dies after Car Plunges into Pond

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Authorities say a 62-year-old southern Indiana man died after his car left a roadway and traveled some 500 feet before plunging into a pond.

Conservation officer Jim Schreck says John Vausha of Ramsey, Ind., was driving along Indiana 64 Saturday night when a witness saw his vehicle leave the roadway and called authorities.

Crawford County firefighters pulled Vausha from his car, but he man was unresponsive. Schreck says Vausha was airlifted to a Corydon hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorites are unsure what caused Vausha to drive off the road.
